A New Start

After my disappointment in the visual appearance of the sites created using the templates provided in my package, and my frustrations with the communications, I began looking at alternative proposals. There have been small payments into my Adsense account but nothing to write home about. I also discovered that before I get paid (I'm not a US citizen) I have to lodge a Taxpayer Identification Number with the US government because Google will not pay out until all the paperwork is complete. As the joke goes, the job isn't over until the paperwork is done. This can take several weeks I'm told. Fortunately there is a tax treaty between our two countries.

I decided that I needed a basic course to build up my understanding of what I am trying to do. This is what I've been putting my time into the last few weeks, and I'm slowly constructing a site in which I will be offering my own product, an ebook. This is a much slower process because the ebook has to be created and the site designed correctly, but I am learning the basics. It is not ready yet and will take a bit longer before I can put it up. It builds on my personal interests in Share and Option Trading that has occupied some of my time in the last few years.

I also discovered a useful forum, for beginners like me, called Webmaster Tips and Tricks Forum when trying to solve some technical difficulties. The link is below.

Making mistakes and then learning from them is hard, but you learn the lessons more thoroughly.

In the last few weeks there has been a lot of activity on the web, with many proposals and counter proposals being put forward about Adsense, and whether it is going to continue to make money for people as it has in the past. I had picked up these views from reading posts about Google changing its policies, and I had asked the question, whether this was going to affect what I was doing. Then suddenly there is all this activity putting forward different strategies. Working out which one to follow is interesting. It's a bit like surfing, if you miss the wave you can miss out because your timing is wrong.

Since I've been surfing the net looking for ideas I've encountered many people who have established "names" for themselves in the Internet Marketing business and are promoting their strategies, software and progams. If you had bottomless pockets you could spend a fortune if you took up all the offers. I'm now receiving stacks of promotional emails from many of them, but the promise of instant money is an illusion like the mirage in the desert. I think it is a learning curve and it takes time and work effort to achieve success, but you must keep your goals clearly in mind and not give up. Persistence and determination are essential to success.

Some of the alternative ideas I found sounded attractive but were outside my budget at present because of my current commitments. But they do use the principles that I have been learning over the last few weeks.

One offer that was low cost, and proved to be value for money when I investigated it, was Dan Kelly's Minisites. I'm working through his information in parallel with my other project and find that as I do, I learn more. He offers two options, the first is a free viewing by streaming video to teach you how to set it up and the second is a download of the material to your computer for a charge to your credit card to enable you to build your own sites using his material. He offers two levels of affiliate commission depending on which option you choose. There are a lot of files to download and it does take time, but I think they are worth the small investment and it is helping me understand more about internet marketing at the basic levels. If you want to look at this then here is the link.

Another offer that was released last week that is also a low cost (relative to what I paid for my original program by the guru's) is Joel Comm's Instant Adsense Templates. When I checked out what was being offered in this package, and the quality of the templates etc, it made my present sites look even more low grade than what I had initially thought. Because this is the strategy that intially attracted me to generating an income on the Web, I succumbed, and it is now on my credit card and I'm waiting for the package to arrive in the mail. I will try it out and see if I can improve my sites and the cash flow from them. The link below will take you to Joel Comm's offer. Compared to anything else, I've seen this is value for money.

I've just received the email saying my package is being dispatched. It should arrive before the end of October on past experience.

I'll let you know how things work when they are implemented. One thing is for sure I've got plenty to keep me occupied for the next few months.
